| Why us |
|
|
On the go is a young and dynamic company that has been operating cultural and adventure tours and African tent safaris
since 1998. We are an innovator and true specialist in this exciting area of travel.
We pride ourselves in being able to offer you an authentic travel experience and not just a distilled version.
We understand the cultures of our destinations intimately, and this synthesis ensures that the holiday experience we give you
is unparalleled. As far as possible, we present you with the true pulse of the destination you’re visiting.
We have a team of experienced, knowledgeable and friendly staff whose passion is travel. Our dedicated partners in all
destinations have helped us create well planned tours and safaris based on years of research and experience; and we
ensure that all our tour hotels and support services are regularly inspected.
Being a privately owned company, our goals are primarily dictated by our desire to provide unforgettable travel experiences to our clients.
Our now considerable reputation has been earned by being able to offer tours and adventures at realistic cost without
compromise on quality or reliability, a commitment to excellent customer service and promotion of responsible travel practices.
As an AITO, ABTA and ATOL bonded operator, we ensure that our standards of service are high and that payment for your holiday is adequately protected.

| The World Awaits |
|
|
on the go tours are all about adventure and new experiences. With on the go you get to visit the best places,
whilst enjoying plenty of independence and freedom. Part of the fun is sharing your travel experiences with an
international mix of travellers.
Some join us because they have limited time or would otherwise be travelling on their own, while others join us simply
because they see the sense in having us arrange everything! Some of our clients are taking a break from work, whilst some
are enjoying a GAP year or extended sabbatical. A lot of our clients travel with us again and again, testimony to our
ability to show you a good time!
Our style of travel suits the spirited traveller, so you’re likely to have plenty in common with other members of the
group before you even meet. Our travellers come from all walks of life and from all over the English speaking world.
We attract many solo travellers, some couples and from time to time - groups of friends. The group mix varies from trip
to trip and group camaraderie is usually very good. There is nothing like a change in your usual routine (like camping
aboard the deck of a Nile felucca boat in Egypt, climbing the Great Wall in China, bobbing about like a cork at the Dead
Sea in Jordan, spending the night in tents in Eastern Africa or riding on a rickshaw convoy to the Taj Mahal in India) to
bring people together!

| Traveling with on the go |

You may be pleased to know that our tours and African tent safaris are not regimented affairs where every hour of every
day is organised to a strict schedule! We believe it’s important to have the right balance between a well organised
itinerary covering the key highlights, and the spare time and freedom to do your own thing. Relax, chill-out, explore
further, shop - you choose! We arrange and provide the outer shell - combining all accommodation - be it a hotel, homestay
or tent (refer to individual tour or safari), transportation (excluding flights - see getting there), local guides, some
meals, sightseeing and an English speaking tour leader (dependent upon your chosen destination) to make your holiday
hassle-free. There are no ‘surprise’ heavy local charges. With on the go, what you see is what you get.
All inclusions and additions are clearly detailed.

| Getting Around |
|
|
In Egypt, we use a combination of private and local transport on all our tours including air-conditioned coaches, buses
and cars, trains, jeeps, Nile feluccas (traditional, masted rigged sailing vessels) and Nile 5 star cruisers (if you’ve
opted for an upgrade).
In Russia, we travel by private and local transportation including coach, public bus and train (mixed-sex 4-berth sleeper cabins)
and solid, utilitarian Russian-built cars (yes, the sort that resemble set-pieces from espionage movies).
In Turkey, we use a combination of private and local transport including air-conditioned coaches, cars and also trains.
Some of our tours offer the option of cruising aboard a Turkish gulet.
In India we use a combination of air-conditioned vehicles including buses and coaches, cars, boats and public trains (where detailed).
Camels and elephants add a little spice, too!
You can take the slow boat to China if you want! However, in China we use more reliable forms of transport. We use a
combination of coaches, buses and cars. Given the vastness of China, we also travel by train (mixed sex 4-berth sleeper
cabins) and of occasion by internal flight. Internal flights are scheduled services run by professional air carriers.
Travelling aboard one of our tented camping expeditions or safaris in Africa, we utilise a large custom-built overland
truck suitably adapted to carry passengers and their luggage in comfort.

| Time to go |

on the go offer year-round departures to all featured destinations. Whatever month you consider, you’ll be rewarded with
the seasonal variations of our individual destinations that range from leaf-strewn autumns to sun-kissed or moody monsoonal
summers, winter sun or enough snow to host a successful winter olympic event!
In Egypt and Turkey, temperatures during the Northern Hemisphere summer are generally high, particularly during the summer
months from June through September. Russia positively shines in summer, where temperatures can be unusually warm. April
and September are good months to visit and if you love snow, come during the northern hemisphere winter. Primetime in India
is September through March. If you love it hot - visit from April through July. The monsoon sweeps India from July to
September, with intermittent rain and shine. China offers your-round appeal. Prime time is September-October across the
country. March, April and May are good for the north. In Africa, the sun shines for most of the year with intermittent
rainfall.
Popular departure dates coincide with Christmas/New Year, Easter, National and school holidays, so book early to guarantee
your place. on the go guarantee all tour departures, subject to a minimum of 5 participants. The only exceptions to our
guarantee are circumstances beyond our control.

| A place to stay |
|

We’ve done our homework and have chosen hotels that factor in comfort and traveller’s needs - such as proximity to local
transport, restaurants, shops and attractions. On all our tour programs, we utilise superior tourist class hotels
(locally rated as 3 - 4 star and of occasion 5 star) with the emphasis on accommodating you in well-managed hotels that
factor in comfort, cleanliness and a modest range of guest facilities rather than putting on the ritz.
All guest rooms offer an en suite bathroom, a television and sometimes a ‘fridge. Most of our hotels offer a range of
guest facilities such as a restaurant or coffee shop and sometimes additional facilities such as a bar, shops, currency
exchange and of occasion health and beauty services or pool. On some tours, accommodation style will be unique to the
region. On our Sandblaster tour in Egypt, we use the best accommodation available in the region, usually accommodation
of a 2 star standard, whilst in Wadi Rum in Jordan, we camp in tents for the night. In India, of occasion we utilise
‘heritage-style’ accommodation, where your hotel may be a former fort or palace! We also accommodate passengers on boats
on some of our tours in Egypt and China. The popular Egyptian Nile felucca offers ondeck accommodation - camping under the
stars. Whilst basic, felucca cruising is fun and very relaxing. For those that prefer the ‘hilton and hairdryer’ approach,
we offer a Nile cruise upgrade. Our 5 star Nile cruisers afford every guest convenience. On Yangtze cruises in China, we
utilise 4-5 star rated cruiser boats with all the mod cons of a hotel.
On some tours, we may utilise a comfortable overnight train journey. Accommodation is in comfortable recliner chairs or
sleeper cabins. Meanwhile, in Africa, it’s ‘have tent, will travel’. All our clients are provided with 2-person tents
for their safari. Check out individual tour pages for further details.

| Food, glorious food |
|
|
Breakfast (and in some cases other meals) is included most days on our range of group tours in Egypt, Russia, Turkey,
India and China. Sometimes, it’s more practical to include a larger proportion of meals, for example on our range of
African expeditions and safaris or aboard our Egyptian Nile felucca or Chinese Yangtze River cruises. In Turkey and China,
we also thrown in a few lunches or dinners for good measure. Check out individual tour details for meal inclusions.
From Idlis in India to Kushari in Cairo, the gastronomic bandwagon is just waiting for you to leap aboard. Is dinner served, Jeeves?
