Air Mauritius

Air Mauritius is the national airline of Mauritius and is based in Port Louis, the island's capital. It operates regional and international services to over 30 destinations with 80 flights per week. Its main base is Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, Mauritius. Amédée Maingard established the company in 1967, initially as a handling agent, and it unassumingly started airline operations in August 1972 with a six seater Piper PA-31 Navajo aircraft leased from Air Madagascar on a flight from Mauritius to Rodrigues Island. International operations started in 1977 using a Boeing 707 wet leased from British Airtours. During the 1970s and 1980s, Air Mauritius operated Boeing 707s and Boeing 747 SPs on longer routes. All the 747s have since been decommissioned and as from 1994 have been replaced by Airbus A340s, with Boeing 767s introduced in 1988, ATR 42s in 1997, an ATR 72 introduced in 2002 for inter-island routes and Airbus A319s for regional flights on the African continent.

Air Mauritius operates internationally into 15 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Far East including Australia. Air Mauritius wide bodied fleet of Airbus A340 and A330 aircraft operate in a
two-class configuration, Business and Economy. The new business class seat is a lie-flat cocoon seat and both business and economy classes can make use of a truly huge Audio & Video On Demand menu offering of 31 digital-quality, multi-language video options together with a library of more than 60 CDs with play-list functionality. This is a wonderful way to get to this idyllic Indian Ocean island.

• Applies to genuine quotes in South African Rand from airlines and South African registered businesses and websites for travel that originates/departs from South Africa.
• Detailed quote must be in writing, must be inclusive of all fees such as taxes, surcharges and service fees and must be presented to us prior to booking.
• Fare must be available and able to be booked by the general public when you bring it to us.
• Fares available due to membership of a group or corporate entity or subscription to a closed group are excluded.
• We may offer you an alternative date/airline to get you the best price, but should you be less flexible we guarantee to better whatever you bring us – apples for apples.
• We will better the price by R20 on domestic airfares and R50 on international airfares.
