Cheap youth hostels

One of the cheapest types of accommodation for our youth when travelling around the world is in cheap youth hostels. But what is the difference between hostels and hotels? Hostels provide cheap, sociable accommodation where guests can rent a bed, sometimes a bunk bed, in a dormitory and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen. Rooms can either be mixed or single-sex depending on the hostel, although private rooms may also sometimes be available. Hostels are generally cheaper for both the operator and the occupants than are hotels. Cheap youth hostels abound throughout Europe, North America and are becoming more and more frequent in other areas. The concept started off in Germany back in 1912 and was quite popular between the two great wars. It has only been during the last 50 years that the concept has really taken off, with Hostel groups appearing in the same way as Hotel groups.

Today you can find cheap youth hostels everywhere. Recently I carried out a trial and discovered, much to my amazement, that there are more than 100 cheap youth hostels in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, alone. It can be a very rich and rewarding experience to stay at these youth hostels. You can get a chance to meet other travellers from many countries, mainly students of course, who can provide valuable advice on the places to see and explore. If you are travelling alone then there is always the chance that you might find a travel companion and experience the country by touring together

• Detailed quote must be in writing, must be inclusive of all fees such as taxes, surcharges and service fees and must be presented to us prior to booking.
• Fare must be available and able to be booked by the general public when you bring it to us.
• Fares available due to membership of a group or corporate entity or subscription to a closed group are excluded.
• We may offer you an alternative date/airline to get you the best price, but should you be less flexible we guarantee to better whatever you bring us – apples for apples.
• We will better the price by R20 on domestic airfares and R50 on international airfares.
