Student volunteer projects

Everybody wants volunteers. NGOs all over the world are looking for student volunteers for projects they are running or intend to run in countries from Armenia to Zimbabwe. You’ll find a number of student volunteer projects listed with details on our website under the working holidays tab, or alternatively you can find several hundred by carrying out a simple Internet search – you find the project and we’ll get you there. The projects on our website include a village build in Nepal, assisting with street children in Lima, Peru with an excursion to Machu Picchu, and projects with elephants in Thailand and Giant Pandas in China, and are all quoted as all-inclusive tours. When you volunteer for such projects you must be prepared to accept the conditions of service – you may well be expected to pay something towards the project or your upkeep, and you’ll certainly have to pay for your airfare from South Africa.

Student volunteer projects can give enormous economic benefits to the community in which they are held, since the activities undertaken would otherwise have to be funded by the state or private means. The work also brings social benefits to the local communities, nurturing greater trust between people. Depending on the student volunteer projects graduates can reap enormous benefits themselves through the experience they have gained in their volunteer work.
